| We arrive in Delhi on February 22 and stay at an American style guest house conveniently located in a quiet neighborhood minutes from the center of New Delhi and the Dargah of Hazrat Inayat Khan. Throughout the program there are four music classes daily tailored to various levels of experience. Outings in Delhi include visits to the shrines of Hazrat Inayat Khan, Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia and Hazrat Amir Khusrau as well as the precursor to the Taj Mahal, Humayuns Tomb. Evenings are filled with house concerts by Master Artists. Midway, we travel to Rishikesh and take up residence near ashrams on the Ganges. There we have the opportunity of practice on the banks of the river where much of this music took birth in the hearts of the Rishis of ancient India. From Rishikesh we make outings to the shrine of Hazrat Allaudin Sabri, (a 13th century Sufi Saint) and the cave/temple Tapkeshwar. Private lessons are available in voice and tabla for an additional fee with any of the staff. Buffet-style brunch and dinner are included. Meals are prepared especially for us and include healthy vegetarian and nonvegetarian entrees. |
